Central government clears transfer of Justice Sujoy Paul from Telangana to Calcutta High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the transfer of Justice Paul in May.

The Central government on Monday cleared the transfer of Justice Sujoy Paul from the Telangana High Court to the Calcutta High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his transfer on May 26.

Earlier, Justice Paul had been transferred from his parent High Court in Madhya Pradesh to the Telangana High Court in 2024, following a personal request.

He enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of Madhya Pradesh in 1990 and practiced in civil, constitutional, industrial, service, and other areas of law before various courts.

He was elevated as a Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court at Jabalpur on May 27, 2011 and became a permanent Judge on April 14, 2014.

Following his transfer, he took oath as a judge of the Telangana High Court on March 26, 2024.
