Soulful Conversations with Bithika Anand: Vivek Mittal, Executive Director, Legal and Corporate Affairs, HUL

This episode of Soulful Conversations with Bithika Anand features Dr. Vivek Mittal, the Executive Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs at Hindustan Unilever Limited.

He holds a PhD, a law degree (LLB), and a post-graduate degree in commerce (MCom). He is also a member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI).

Before joining HUL, Dr Mittal served as Global General Counsel at Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Limited, where he was responsible for legal, ethics, compliance, and data privacy risks. He has over 25 years of experience building dynamic legal teams across industries in reputed companies, including Danaher Corporation, Lupin Limited, Reliance, Radico Khaitan, India Bulls Group, Caparo India Operations, and Mount Shivalik Industries.

In his conversation with Bithika, he speaks about how work is also a part of life, and how work and life are all about striking a balance. He also shared his views on how there’s no replacement for hard work.

The important aspect is sincerity towards work; if you’re true to your job, then nothing can stop you. He also sheds importance of being courteous and how personality is developed over a period of time.

While subject matter expertise can be gained over a period of time, developing a good personality and being a good human are important even in the corporate world, Dr. Mittal adds.

Dr. Mittal is a prominent industry leader who is actively engaged with various bodies and forums. He serves on esteemed committees, including the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Task Force on Inbound and Outbound Investments and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Task Force on Judicial Reform.
