Central government repatriates Justice V Kameswar Rao from Karnataka to Delhi High Court

He was transferred to Karnataka in May 2024 on his own request.

The Central government on Monday cleared the transfer of Justice V Kameswar Rao to from Karnataka High Court to Delhi High Court.

This comes a year after he was transferred to Karnataka.

Justice Rao was transferred to Karnataka in May 2024 after serving over 11 years as a judge of the Delhi High Court.

Notably, Justice Rao was moved to Karnataka on his request.

He has now been cleared for repatriation back to his parent High Court, Delhi.

"In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 222 of the Constitution of India, the President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to transfer Shri Justice Valluri Kameswar Rao, Judge, Karnataka High Court, to be a Judge of Delhi High Court and to direct him to assume charge of his office in the Delhi High Court," a notification by the Law Ministry said.

Justice Rao was elevated as an additional judge of the Delhi High Court on April 17, 2013 and made permanent on March 18, 2015.

He was transferred to Karnataka, where he assumed charge on June 1, 2024.
