SAM advises Tata Capital on ₹2,607 crore financing for development of Nagpur Airport

The airport's development is integral to the multi-model international cargo hub at Nagpur.

Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co advised Tata Capital Limited on part-financing the brown field international airport at Nagpur, Maharashtra in relation to its further upgradation, development and operation. The transaction was signed on 29 April 2025 and is valued at ₹2,607 crore.

The transaction team was led by Anurag Dwivedi (Partner) Shubham Sharma (Principal Associate) and Shravani Bhide (Associate). 

Shashwat Bhaskar (Senior Associate) and Amogh Mittal (Associate) provided inputs on the closing.

The project, part of the ₹3,725 crore MIHAN initiative, includes construction of a new passenger terminal, enhanced cargo handling facilities, and major upgrades to runway and air traffic infrastructure.

While the airport’s operational takeover is underway, final land transfer approval from the Airports Authority of India is pending Union Cabinet clearance. The financing marks a significant boost to regional infrastructure and Tata Capital’s involvement in strategic aviation development.

Nagpur Airport is a joint venture of the Maharashtra Airport Development Company, the Airports Authority of India, and GMR Airports Limited.

The airport's development is integral to the multi-model international cargo hub at Nagpur. Once expanded, this airport will play a significant role in economic development of Vidarbh Region.
