Vinayak Savarkar defamation: Lucknow court imposes ₹200 fine on Rahul Gandhi for non-appearance
Last year, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Alok Verma had observed that Gandhi's speech and pamphlets, which alleged Savarkar was a British servant who received a pension, spread hatred and ill-will in society.
A court in Lucknow on Wednesday imposed costs of ₹200 on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for non-appearance in a case filed over allegedly derogatory remarks made by him against Vinayak Damodar Savarkar during his 2022 Bharat Jodo rally in Maharashtra.
