TN moves Supreme Court against Madras HC stay on laws passed with Governor’s deemed assent

The Court said it would hear the State's challenge to the stay, which came despite its April 8 ruling granting deemed assent to the bills by the Governor.

The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice on a petition filed by the State of Tamil Nadu challenging a Madras High Court order that stayed the operation of nine State laws concerning the appointment of Vice-Chancellors in public universities [The State of Tamil Nadu & Anr v.
