The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the strictures recently passed by Punjab and Haryana High Court against Haryana's Additional Advocate General Deepak Sabharwal..The Bench of Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma passed the order on a plea moved by Haryana government."Anything can be said against the party. But passing strictures against the counsel cannot happen," the Court said as it stayed the remarks against Sabharwal..In an order passed last month, the High Court had said Sabharwal had made misleading submissions to oppose medical bail plea of an accused. The State counsel on the basis of a medical report had told the Court that the accused was stable. The accused later died at a hospital. There had also been a wrong submission regarding accused's bail plea before trial court."Suppressing material facts, misrepresenting or misleading the Court in any manner constitutes a serious violation of prosecutorial ethics and an affront to judicial integrity," Justice Manjari Nehru Kaul had observed in the order passed on January 31.
