The Supreme Court has initiated a suo motu contempt of court case against a Chandigarh-based journalist and Youtuber Ajay Shukla for scandalous remarks against a judge. .The case titled 'IN RE: SCANDALOUS REMARKS MADE BY MR. AJAY SHUKLA, EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, VARPRAD MEDIA PVT. LTD., A DIGITAL CHANNEL' is listed on Friday before a three-judge bench of Chief Justice of India BR Gavai, Justice Augustine George Masih and a judge yet to be nominated.This is the first time a suo motu criminal contempt petition has been initiated by the top court this year. .At present, it is not known over which remarks the top court has initiated the suo motu case against Shukla.However, an examination of Shukla's YouTube channel revealed that he had recently posted a video on the retirement of Justice Bela M Trivedi. The caption of the video refers to Justice Trivedi as 'Godi judge' a term used to refer to people or institutions which do the Central government's bidding.
