Supreme Court directs 33% reservation for women lawyers in NGT Bar Association elections

A Bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh also granted exemption from the requirement of registration with the Bar Council of Delhi for lawyer-members of the NGT Bar Association to cast their votes.

The Supreme Court recently clarified that its order mandating reservation of posts for women lawyers in the executive committees of the Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) and various District Bar Associations in Delhi would also apply to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) Bar Association in Delhi [DK Sharma and Ors. Versus Bar Council of Delhi and Ors].
