The parents of the resident doctor who was raped and murdered at the RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata have approached the Calcutta High Court taking exception to the manner which the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been probing the case..The parents have sought a fresh investigation into the incident.The plea was mentioned before the bench of Justice Tirthankar Ghosh, who directed that the CBI be made a party to the case. The counsel appearing for parents sought a fresh investigation, citing the parents' lack of confidence in the probe agency.The High Court is likely to hear the plea on December 24..The Calcutta High Court had in August had directed CBI to investigate the case on a priority basis.The 31-year-old junior doctor was found dead at the RG Kar Medical College hospital sparking nationwide outrage and eventually leading to the resignation of the college principal, Dr. Sandip Ghosh amid allegations that he tried to blame the victim.The Calcutta High Court on August 13 transferred the probe in the matter to the CBI.Ghosh was arrested by the CBI on September 2 after the Calcutta High Court had on August 23 ordered the agency to investigate the alleged financial irregularities and mishandling of key evidence in the rape case at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.A Kolkata court granted him bail on December 13 since the CBI couldn't file the chargesheet within the stipulated 90-day period
