A court in Jharkhand granted bail to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a case registered against him his remarks about Union Home Minister Amit Shah..Special MP/MLA court Judge Supriya Rani Tigga granted bail to Gandhi in the matter after he personally appeared..The case arose from a complaint was filed by one Pratap Katiyar, a resident of Chaibasa, alleging that Gandhi made derogatory remarks Shah during a Congress convention in 2018. Gandhi in his statements had allegedly accused Shah of being involved in murder.In February this year, the Jharkhand High Court rejected Gandhi's petition to quash the criminal defamation case..On February 27, the Chaibasa court issued a non-bailable warrant against Rahul Gandhi for failing to appear and participate in the trial. Gandhi challenged this order before the Jharkhand High Court which subsequently stayed the warrant.Thereafter, a second non-bailable warrant was issued by the Chaibasa court against Gandhi and he was directed to appear on June 26. Gandhi then again moved High Court, challenging the same. The High Court then asked him to appear before the trial court.
