Priya Kapur has approached the Delhi High Court to allow her to file the details of the assets and liabilities of her late husband Sunjay Kapur in a sealed cover. .Justice Jyoti Singh heard the matter on Thursday, but expressed apprehensions about whether such an order can be passed as it may "create some problems"."It may be problematic for the simple reason that as the alleged beneficiary of the estate, they [Karisma Kapur's children] have a right to question the assets disclosed...So, tomorrow, if they have to verify and go about asking what has happened, if they are bound with this confidentiality club, how will they ever defend their case?" the Court asked.Justice Singh also questioned what was so important in this partition suit and how it was different from any other case..Senior Advocate Shyel Trehan appeared for Priya Kapur and argued that there is sensitive information related to the asset details, and that she is only asking for those to be in a sealed cover. "There has been a lot of media attention. The pleadings are leaking. Everything is being leaked. It is a question of cybersecurity also. There are bank details...I don’t want it to leak to the public at large or the media. I am not shying away from disclosing anything," Trehan said. Trehan added that the lawyers appearing in the matter are also going to the media and publicising the case. The Court questioned Trehan whether there was any judgment supporting her request. "The bank accounts have been wiped off. Had it been a probate it would have been a proceeding in rem, and nothing would have been hidden. While hearing a partition suit, the High Court had on September 10 ordered Priya Kapur to submit a list of all movable and immovable assets of Sunjay Kapur after the children submitted that a will was forged by Priya Kapur to usurp their father's assets..Meanwhile, Sunjay Kapur's mother Rani Kapur's application seeking a copy of the will also came up before the Court today.The Court will consider the same tomorrow as well..Background.Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur were married for 13 years, between 2003 and 2016 before getting divorced. They have a son and a daughter together. Their children have accused stepmother Priya Kapur (Sunjay's third and last wife) of forging his will and trying to gain total control of the assets.
