The Supreme Court has decided to bar the entry of law interns into its court rooms on miscellaneous hearing days - Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays..The move has come pursuant to a request made by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) for the same, a communication dated July 30 by the Court's Registry to SCBA said."The competent authority has been pleased to accede to the request made by Supreme Court Bar Association for restricting access of law interns inside the court rooms on miscellaneous hearing days, i.e. Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays," the communication stated.Law interns will have access to court premises and corridors on regular hearing days, i.e. Wednesday and Thursdays..The SCBA had earlier written to the Court requesting restrictions on law interns, citing overcrowding inside the Court."It has been observed that on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, there is significant congestion in the Courtrooms and Court Corridors. This is largely attributed to the high number of interns present on these days. Senior Advocates and regular practitioners have found it increasingly difficult to move around from one Court to another. Moreover, in many instances, interns are not vacating seats even when requested by members of the Bar, thereby causing further inconvenience by practicing advocates," the SCBA had said.
