Stay in Azure–PPL copyright dispute doesn't apply to third parties: Supreme Court clarifies

In 2022, PPL sued Azure for allegedly playing its copyrighted songs across its 86 restaurants, including Mamagoto, Dhaba and Sly Granny.

The Supreme Court on June 19 clarified that its April 21, 2025 stay order in the copyright dispute between restaurant chain Azure Hospitality and Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL) applies strictly to the commercial suit pending before the Delhi High Court and does not extend to third parties.
