OFB Tech Private Limited has filed another suit seeking damages of over ₹2 crores from The Morning Context for allegedly publishing a defamatory article against it [Ruchi Kalra and Ors. vs. Slowform Media Pvt. Ltd. and Ors]..OFB has sought takedown of the report titled 'The work culture OfBusiness doesn’t like to talk about’ written by The Morning Context editor Harveen Ahluwalia. Justice Vikas Mahajan today issued summons to the Slowform Media, which owns the news portal, and granted it time for its reply to OFB's application seeking interim relief. .In the article originally published on May 17, the news portal had reported the allegations that the work culture in OFB was toxic as the employees are routinely subjected to "verbal abuse" and "intimidation".However, OFB in the suit has submitted that the content of the article was based on unverified and inaccurate facts. The news organization is disparaging OFB's name and image in the corporate circle just before it goes for Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the trade market, the plea has alleged.OFB has also claimed that due to the defamatory articles, investors have refrained from making investment in the company. .Senior Advocate Saikrishna Rajagopal appeared for The Morning Context and sought time to file its reply.The Court then listed OFB's application seeking interim injunction for arguments on December 19.Advocates Tanmaya Mehta, Sanyam Khetarpal, Lisa Sankrit, Armaan Grover, Nitesh Goyal, Prakriti Anand, Nitai Aggarwal appeared for OFB..The plaint heard today by the Court is OFB's second defamation suit against The Morning Context in past two months.Earlier, it had sought takedown of a Morning Context news report about a criminal case involving the management of OFB..In that matter, Justice Vikas Mahajan on October 15 came to a prima facie conclusion that the article cannot be protected "under the defences of truth, fair comment and privilege" and thus ordered its take down.The news website was also restrained "from, in any manner, directly or indirectly, publishing, posting, communicating, circulating the impugned Article or any material containing the defamatory imputations made in the impugned Article, till further orders"Today, an appeal against the takedown order was heard by a Division Bench. The Court asked the Slowform Media to instead approach the single-judge for vacation of the injunction order.
