"These are belongings that the petitioners and their families have bought after years of saving every rupee. Most displaced persons for Khori Gaon have requested that if a temporary shelter facility is given to them, it should have the bare minimum requirements, that is, it should protect them from the elements such as the rain, sun and heat, and that it should have some provision to protect the privacy of women who simply cannot spread a mat on the floor and sleep in view of the public," read the report. .The two-member team also visited the persons at the site of demolition who they claimed are now living "with their children and their aged parents in the open under tarpaulin sheets.".What is being provided at the moment is a camp-like single community shelter.The report also said that despite assurances, there have been "allegations of violence and abuse even against women, carried out by the male police personnel during the eviction and demolition process.".The Court also received another report today from Senior Advocate Colin Gonsalves. This report was prepared by a team of lawyers and titled 'No Room of My Own: Chronicling the aftermath of demolition at Khori Gaon.'.The report highlighted "abysmal living conditions of the evicted Khori Gaon residents". "The temporary shelter is inadequate and is far from being habitable. At the permanent rehabilitation settlement, the structures are at the verge of collapsing.
