An insolvency petition has been filed before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Bengaluru against United Breweries, alleging a payment default of ₹2.64 crore..The plea was moved by Balurghat Technologies, a listed logistics services provider, which claimed that UB failed to pay an outstanding principal amount of ₹1.62 crore. With interest and other charges, the total claimed default stands at ₹2.64 crore. The company stated that United Breweries had earlier acknowledged the dues and entered into settlement discussions, but the proposed settlement failed to materialise..On Tuesday, a coram of Judicial Member Sunil Kumar Aggarwal and Technical Member Radhakrishna Sreepada observed that while the outstanding amounts were available in other documents, the Tribunal needed to see a clause showing that interest was leviable on outstanding amounts.
