The Central government on Friday cleared the appointment of 24 new judges to the Allahabad High Court. .The Supreme Court Collegium had on September 1 recommended the appointment of 12 lawyers and 14 judicial officers as judges to the High Court. Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal in a tweet announced that 24 names of the total 26 have been cleared for judgeship at the High Court..The lawyers cleared for appointment are:- Vivek Saran;- Vivek Kumar Singh; - Garima Prashad; - Sudhanshu Chauhan;- Abdhesh Kumar Chaudhary; - Swarupama Chaturvedi; - Siddharth Nandan;- Kunal Ravi Singh; - Indrajeet Shukla, and- Satya Veer Singh..The names of Advocates Adnan Ahmad and Jai Krishna Upadhyay have not been cleared by the Centre. .The judicial officers elevated to the High Court are:- Dr. Ajay Kumar- II;- Chawan Prakash;- Divesh Chandra Samant;- Prashant Mishra-I;- Tarun Saxena;- Rajeev Bharti;- Padam Narain Mishra;- Lakshmi Kant Shukla;- Jai Prakash Tiwari;- Devendra Singh-I;- Sanjiv Kumar;- Vani Ranjan Agrawal;- Achal Sachdev, and- Babita Rani..Out of the 26 persons cleared for appointment to the High Court, four are women. Two of them - Senior Advocates Garima Prashad and Swarupama Chaturvedi - practiced at the Supreme Court.At present, High Court has 83 judges against the sanctioned strength of 160. The working strength will now rise to 107.
