Allu Arjun gets bail from Telangana court in Pushpa 2 stampede case

A trial court in Telangana on Friday granted regular bail to Telugu film actor Allu Arjun in connection with the criminal case registered against him after a stampede at the premiere of his film Pushpa 2 led to the death of a woman in Hyderabad on December 4..An Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge in Nampally granted Arjun regular bail today on the condition that he execute a personal bond for ₹50,000 with two sureties. Arjun was also directed to appear before the station house officer at the Chikkadpally police station every Sunday between 10 AM and 1 PM for two months or till the filing of the chargesheet, whichever is earlier.The trial court added that Arjun should cooperate with the investigating authorities and not hamper the investigation in any manner or influence witnesses. The court also directed Arjun not to leave the country without prior permission of the court. The actor was earlier granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court for four weeks. At the time, the High Court had observed that Arjun cannot prima facie be held responsible for the incident since he had simply gone to the movie premiere after taking seeking permission..The First Information Report (FIR) filed against Arjun and several others, including the owners and management of the Sandhya theatre where the stampede took place, cites offences under Section 105 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and Section 118(1) read with Section 3(5) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).The case was registered based on a complaint filed by the family members of the deceased woman, M Revathi.Revathi tragically lost her life in a stampede that broke out at Sandhya theatre during the premiere of Pushpa 2 at around 9:30 PM on December 4, 2024. Her 9-year-old son was also critically injured in the stampede.Arjun was present at the theatre during the stampede.The police claimed that they were not informed in advance about Arjun's presence, which contributed to inadequate crowd control measures..Arjun was arrested in connection with the case on December 13. However, the High Court granted him interim bail the same day on the condition that he cooperate with the investigation and furnish a ₹50,000 bond. Interim bail was also extended to co-accused who were arrested in the same case (theatre management). Arjun was released from jail the following day (December 14) and moved for regular bail before the trial court, which was allowed today.
