The Central government on Tuesday notified the transfer of three High Court judges, Justices Cheekati Manavendranath Roy, Donadi Ramesh, and Subhendu Samanta, to the Andhra Pradesh High Court..Justice Cheekati Manavendranath Roy, who was serving at the Gujarat High Court, has been transferred back to the Andhra Pradesh High Court which is his parent High Court.He was earlier a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court before his transfer to Gujarat in 2023. A third-generation lawyer from a traditional agricultural family, he practised in Parvathipuram and Vizianagaram between 1988 and 2002. He was appointed as a permanent judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh at Amaravati on June 12, 2019, becoming the first judge to be appointed after the reconstitution of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on January 1, 2019. Upon transfer, he was sworn in as a judge of the Gujarat High Court on November 2, 2023..Justice Donadi Ramesh, who was serving at the Allahabad High Court, has also been transferred back to the Andhra Pradesh High Court. He was elevated as a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in January 2020 and transferred to Allahabad in July 2023, where he served as the administrative judge for the districts of Basti and Siddharthnagar.Enrolled with the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh in 1990, he practised at the Andhra Pradesh High Court under Justice PS Narayana. He served as Government Pleader for Services (2000–2004), Standing Counsel for AP Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan (2007–2013), and Special Government Pleader in the Office of the Advocate General (2014–2019) before his elevation to the Bench..Justice Subhendu Samanta, presently a Judge of the Calcutta High Court, has been transferred to the Andhra Pradesh High Court for the first time.
