The Central government has decided to introduce an Ordinance to amend the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 to make attacks on doctors and healthcare workers a cognizable and non-bailable offence.
An announcement to this effect was made by Union Minister Prakash Javadekar during today's Cabinet briefing.
