The Central government on Wednesday notified the appointment of Justice Harpreet Singh Brar as a permanent judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court..A notification to this effect was published on the website of Ministry of Law & Justice."In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Harpreet Singh Brar, Additional Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court, to be a Judge of that High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office," the notification said.,.The Supreme Court Collegium had first recommended his name for appointment as judge in July 2022. The said recommendation was reiterated in March 2023 and Brar was eventually appointed as the additional judge of the High Court.The Central government has now recommended that he be made permanent.
