The Delhi High Court on Wedneday asked the Central government about its plan to tackle the concerns around the Chinese AI chatbot DeepSeek [Bhavna Sharma v Union of India & Ors]..A Division Bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela posed the question to Central Government Standing Counsel (CGSC) Ishkaran Bhandari. The Court stated that concerns around the platform need to be tackled at the initial stage. “You have to take instructions. There is no doubt that this is an issue which needs to be tackled at the initial stage as well. You take instructions. How is the ministry going to tackle this? Please keep it ready,” the Court remarked. The Bench then granted Bhandari time to complete his instructions in the matter and said that the case would be heard next with other matters related to the similar issue. .There is no doubt that this is an issue which needs to be tackled at the initial stage.Delhi High Court .The Court was dealing with a public interest litigation (PIL) petition filed by advocate Bhavna Sharma, raising concerns that the platforms violate the privacy and security of individuals and is detrimental to the sovereignty and integrity of India. In her plea, Sharma has sought directions to frame guidelines to block access to such AI tools.The High Court had in February this year asked the Central government counsel to obtain instructions in the matter.
