A court in Hisar on Monday remanded YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra to judicial custody in the case in which she is accused of having been in contact with certain Pakistani Intelligence Officers (PIOs)..Malhotra was arrested by Hisar Police on May 16 in the case registered under provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Official Secrets Act. She was initially in police custody for five days, which was later extended by four days. On Monday, she was produced before a judicial magistrate who remanded her to judicial custody till June 9..The police had earlier seized three mobile phones, a laptop and some other electronic devices from Malhotra and sent the same for forensic analysis. During her custody, she was also questioned by other investigating agencies. Recently, the police had to issue a press statement to refute some of the rumours being spread in media regarding the case. It clarified that no evidence had yet emerged regarding the accused having access to any military, defence or strategic information. The result of analysis of the seized electronic devices has not been received yet. The police also said that it has not yet found evidence of Malhotra’s connection with any terrorist organization or her involvement in any terrorist incidents. It was also disclosed that there was no evidence regarding Malhotra’s marriage with any PIO or conversion to another religion.
