GCAI urges MCA to exempt General Counsel from director proficiency test

It has also called for the formal recognition of General Counsel as legal practitioners under Indian law.

The General Counsels’ Association of India (GCAI) has written to the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) seeking a legal amendment to exempt experienced General Counsel from having to take a mandatory proficiency test currently required for appointment as independent directors in companies.
