A fire during the early hours of Monday morning at Punjab and Haryana High Court gutted the Ladies' Bar room and also caused significant damage to the main Bar room..The Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association in a statement said the estimated loss has been assessed at approximately ₹35 lakh."It is with deep regret that we inform the esteemed members of the Bar that an unfortunate fire incident occurred in the early hours of today. The fire has completely gutted the Ladies’ Bar Room as well as Room No. 4, and a portion of the Main Bar Room has also sustained significant damage," the Bar Body said in a statement. It added all necessary measures to restore the affected areas are being undertaken. Given the financial requirements for the restoration work, the Bar body urged its members, particularly senior members and Senior Advocates, to generously contribute for the cause."Donations may be submitted to the Accounts Office of the Bar Association against a proper receipt. The Bar Association is also registered for exemption under Section 80G ITAct," it further said.
