The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on an election petition challenging her election from the Kalkaji Assembly constituency..Justice Jyoti Singh issued notice to the Leader of Opposition on an election petition moved by Kamaljit Singh Duggal and Ayush Rana, who are voters in Atishi's constituency.The Court also directed the Election Commission of India, Returning Officer and Delhi Police to preserve the records pertaining to the elections held in February this year.The next date of hearing in the matter is July 30..The plea has accused Atishi and her election agents of having indulged in corrupt practices during the assembly polls. In particular, it has been alleged that a day before the polling, Atishi's close associates were caught with ₹5 lakh in cash in Kalkaji constituency. The plea claims that the money was meant to buy votes or bribe the voters in her favour.It has also been alleged in the plea that party workers of AAP published "fake statements" against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ramesh Bidhuri. The plea has also accused the then Chief Minister of having misused public resources for furthering her electoral gains.
