The Delhi High Court recently allowed the release of Chiyaan Vikram’s movie Veera Deera Sooran after the producers of the movie and the distributor reached a settlement [Ivy Entertainment Private Limited v HR Pictures]..Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora allowed the film’s release through an order passed on March 27 after taking on record the settlement agreement reached between Ivy Entertainment Private Limited (one of the distributors of the movie) and HR Pitcures (the producers). Earlier, in the day, the Court had injuncted the film’s release. However, the order was vacated after the parties jointly mentioned the matter and showed the settlement to the Court. “Accordingly, in view of the settlement, the injunction order passed earlier today in I.A. 7657/2025 is hereby vacated and defendant is at liberty to release the assigned film with immediate effect ie 27.03.2025,” the Court ordered. .The dispute arose between the producer of the film and the distributor over transfer of digital, theatrical and other copyright material before the release of the film.Ivy Entertainment argued that it was the obligation of HR Pictures to deliver all the rights fourteen days prior to the release date of movie, which they failed to do. Meanwhile, HR Pictures contended that Ivy was aware of release date of the movie as early as January 2025. However, it approached the Court at the eleventh hour to pressurize the producer to bargain a better monetary deal. .Senior Advocate Darpan Wadhwa with advocates Sanampreet Singh, Suraj Dhawan and Vipul Jain appeared for Ivy Entertainment. HR Pictures was represented by advocates Utsav Trivedi, Himanshu Sachdeva and Anudatt Dubey of TAS Law. .[Read Order]
