A Delhi court recently restrained a woman from stalking and harassing a married man who refused to have physical relations with her. .Civil Judge Renu of Rohini court said that the woman (who is also married) cannot come within 300 metres of the man’s flat or contact him and his family members in any way. “Defendants are also restrained from stalking, harassing, or following the Plaintiff [man] or any member of his family either in person or through any means of communication, including electronic, telephonic, or social media platforms. Defendants are further restrained from making any attempt to contact the Plaintiff or his family members, directly or indirectly, including through third parties,” the Court ordered. .The man approached the Court stating that he exchanged contacts with the defendant woman at an Ashram in 2019 and started talking to each other. In 2022, he allegedly rejected the woman’s proposal, saying that he is an old and married man with children. However, the woman continued to stalk him and his children on social media and even visited his flat, pressuring him to have physical relations with her. The man alleged that the defendant threatened to commit suicide if he continued to ignore her. .After considering the case, Judge Renu said that the defendant’s conduct was affecting the plaintiff’s fundaments rights to move freely and preventing him from enjoy his life peacefully. Such interference causes irreparable injury, the Court concluded. Therefore, it passed the restraining order.
