Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (SAM) has announced a firm-wide partnership with Harvey AI, a generative AI platform designed specifically for legal professionals.
SAM has implemented Harvey’s full suite of AI functionalities across all seven of its offices.
The firm aims to use AI to accelerate contract drafting and review, streamline due diligence processes, enhance legal research and predictive analysis, and deliver data-driven insights for both contentious and advisory matters.
Winston Weinberg, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at Harvey, stated in a press release,
“SAM’s rigorous approach to evaluating and implementing AI firm-wide reflects their clear commitment to redefining how top-tier legal services are delivered in a digital age.”
SAM Executive Chairman Dr Shardul S Shroff commented,
“Innovation is central to our firm’s ethos. Harvey’s powerful AI capabilities will enhance our lawyers’ intellectual rigour, reduce time spent on repetitive tasks, and allow greater focus on strategic counsel. This partnership demonstrates our commitment to setting new standards of quality, speed, and value in the Indian legal market.”
Partner Naval Chopra added,
“Following a year-long evaluation of both Indian and international AI solutions - including the possibility of developing our own - we are delighted to implement Harvey, the market-leading product. In just the past month, our lawyers have used Harvey for a wide range of tasks, from due diligence and drafting complex clauses to creating closing checklists and generating client pitches. The potential applications are vast."
The firm’s AI task force consisted of Partners Naval Chopra, VR Neelakantan, Hemant Krishna and Irshad Saifi, Director of Information Technology.
To ensure responsible and effective use of Harvey, SAM has implemented a comprehensive training program and robust governance protocols. These include firm-specific data security measures, prompt-engineering standards and continuous human oversight to safeguard client privilege and regulatory compliance throughout the AI workflow.
Allen & Overy was the first law firm to partner with Harvey AI, while in India, Cyril Amarchand Mangldas has integrated multiple AI tools, including Harvey AI.
