CMS IndusLaw gets Abeezar Faizullabhoy, 2 Partners from Argus
Argus Senior Partner Abeezar Faizullabhoy has resigned from the firm to join CMS IndusLaw along with two other Partners Murtaza Kachwalla and S.M. Algaus, to boost the firm's Disputes Resolution Practice in Mumbai.
CMS INDUSLAW is entrusting Faizullabhoy with the pivotal role of mentoring and driving the sustained growth of its Mumbai office by working closely with the leadership of the firm.
Faizullabhoy has over 35 years of experience spanning dispute resolution, arbitration, and corporate commercial transactions and advisory. His disputes practice includes representing both domestic and international clients across sectors such as manufacturing, technology, services, and retail before the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts, tribunals, and in both domestic and international arbitrations. He has also handled numerous matters under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, and regularly advises on the enforcement of foreign decrees and arbitral awards in India.
In his corporate commercial practice, Faizullabhoy has advised on joint ventures, angel and private equity investments, shareholders’ and share purchase agreements, technology transfers, and issues under FDI regulations, the Companies Act, FEMA, and other commercial laws.
He has previously worked with Mulla & Mulla & Craigie, Blunt & Caroe, JSA, HSA Advocates, and Argus Partners.
Kachwalla has over 16 years of experience in litigation and dispute resolution, having advised and represented leading corporates and individuals in a broad range of matters. He has represented clients in complex commercial disputes before the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts, and specialised tribunals including the NCLT, NCLAT, and DRT. Murtaza also has significant experience in domestic and international arbitrations. In addition, he advises on real estate matters, including drafting and vetting of property-related documents, and representing clients in transactions involving property transfers and conveyancing.
Algaus has over 10 years of experience in dispute resolution, including commercial litigation, arbitration, and advisory on related transactions. He has advised clients on civil and commercial disputes, insolvency proceedings, intellectual property litigation, banking regulations, and more. He has appeared before various forums including the Supreme Court, multiple High Courts, NCLT, City Civil & Sessions Courts, Small Causes Court, DRT, Electricity Regulatory Commissions, and arbitral tribunals.
Before joining CMS INDUSLAW, Abeezar, Murtaza, and Algaus were part of the Dispute Resolution practice at Argus Partners.
