The Central government on Thursday notified the transfer of Justice Atul Sreedharan from the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh back to his parent High Court, the Madhya Pradesh High Court. .The transfer, issued under Article 222(1) of the Constitution of India, was made following consultation with the Chief Justice of India.The Ministry of Law & Justice Department of Justice issued the official notification in this regard."In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 222 of the Constitution of India, the President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to transfer Shri Justice Atul Sreedharan, Judge, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, as Judge of High Court of Madhya Pradesh and to direct him to assume charge of his office in the High Court of Madhya Pradesh," the notification said..The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Justice Sreedharan’s repatriation to his parent High Court in a meeting held on March 6 this year. Justice Sreedharan was transferred from Madhya Pradesh to Jammu and Kashmir in April 2023 after the judge himself sought the transfer on grounds of his daughter entering law practice in Madhya Pradesh.He has now been transferred back to Madhya Pradesh. .Born on May 24, 1966, Justice Sreedharan began his legal career in the chambers of Senior Advocate Gopal Subramanium in Delhi in 1992.From 1997 to 2000, he practiced independently in Delhi before shifting to Indore in 2001, where he continued his practice at the Indore Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.He served as counsel for State and Central government before being appointed additional judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in April 2016.He was appointed a permanent judge of that High Court on March 17, 2018..He was transferred to the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court on April 27, 2023 and took oath on May 10, 2023..[Read Notification]
