The Central government on Monday notified the appointment of Andhra Pradesh High Court judge Justice G Narendar as the Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court..A notification to this effect was published on the website of Ministry of Law and Justice."In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Guhanathan Narendar, Judge, Andhra Pradesh High Court, to be Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court, with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office," the notification said. .On September 24, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the appointment of Justice Narendar as Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court..Justice Narendar was appointed as a jujdge of the Karnataka High Court on January 2, 2015. He was transferred to the Andhra Pradesh High Court on October 30, 2023. He is the senior-most judge in his parent High Court and belongs to the Other Backward Class.
