Centre clears transfer of Justice Lanusungkum Jamir from Gauhati to Calcutta High Court

In its meeting held on May 26, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his transfer. The Central government cleared the same on Monday.

The Central government on Monday notified the transfer of Justice Lanusungkum Jamir from Gauhati High Court to Calcutta High Court.

This was pursuant to the recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium on May 26.

Justice Jamir was appointed as an additional judge of the Gauhati High Court in May 2013. He was then transferred to the Manipur High Court in October 2018. He became a permanent judge in November 2018 and was transferred back to the Gauhati High Court last year.

He obtained his LL.B. in 1988 from the North Eastern Hill University and enrolled in the Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur and Tripura in 1989.
