The Central government on Friday cleared the appointment of advocates Gautam Ashwin Ankhad and Mahendra Madhavrao Nerlikar as additional judges of the Bombay High Court..A notification to that effect was published by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice of the Central Government."In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri (i) Gautam Ashwin Ankhad and (ii) Mahendra Madhavrao Nerlikar, to be Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court for a period of two years, in that order of seniority, with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices," the notification read..The Supreme Court collegium had recommended their appointment in September 2024.As on July 1, Bombay High Court is currently functioning with 64 judges as against its sanctioned strength of 94..[Read Notification]
