The Union government on Thursday notified the appointment of seven judicial officers as judges of the Gujarat High Court..The judicial officers appointed as High Court judges are:1. Liyakathussain Shamsuddin Pirzada,2. Ramchandra Thakurdas Vachhani,3. Jayesh Lakhanshibhai Odedra, 4. Pranav Maheshbhai Raval, 5. Mool Chand Tyagi,6. Dipak Mansukhlal Vyas,7. Utkarsh Thakorbhai Desai.The decision follows a recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium on March 19. However, out of the eight names recommended by the Collegium, only seven have been cleared by the Union government.Today, an announcement regarding the elevation of the seven judicial officers to the High Court was made by Union Minister of State (in charge) for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal on X..Gujarat High Court presently has a working strength of 32 judges, as against a sanctioned strength of 52 judges. .Editor's note: An earlier report incorrectly stated that the Union government had cleared the names of all the eight judicial officers recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium.
