Multiple bar bodies across Jammu and Kashmir have strongly condemned the brutal terrorist attack that occurred on April 22 in Pahalgam's Baisaran Valley. .The attack, which claimed 28 lives and left several injured, has sparked widespread outrage and mourning across the region.Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association at Jammu led by its President Advocate K Nirmal Kotwal issued a statement on Tuesday condemning the attack as a “cowardly and inhumane act of violence” targeting innocent civilians. The Association expressed solidarity with the victims and their families and called for a complete Jammu Bandh and suspension of judicial work on April 23, urging all civil society organisations to join the protest..Similarly, the Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association at Srinagar under the leadership of President Advocate Waseem Gul also denounced the attack as a “barbaric assault with no place in a civilized society.” The Bar body asked all its members and advocates to abstain from court work on April 23 in the High Court at Srinagar and subordinate courts across the Kashmir division as a mark of respect to the victims and in protest against the continuing threat to regional peace..The Kashmir Jurists Bar Association also joined in condemning the act, describing it as an “inhuman attack by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists.” In a statement signed by President Altaf Ganderbali and Chief Coordinator Tajamul Chaudhry, the Association called for a complete and peaceful Kashmir Bandh on April 23 and urged the civil society and conscientious citizens to stand united against terrorism and in solidarity with the bereaved families..All three associations have described the attack as a direct affront to peace, justice and humanity and have called for unity and resilience in the face of such barbarism..The Bar Associations have also urged the authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure robust preventive measures to protect civilians from such future threats.
