Bank manager's presence not mandatory in cheque bounce trial, authorised official can testify: J&K High Court

Since the evidence in such cases is based on official bank records, it is not necessary for the branch manager to depose personally, the Court held.

The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh recently ruled that it is not mandatory for a bank’s branch manager to appear personally during trials in cheque bouncing cases, and that any duly authorised bank official with access to the relevant records can competently testify instead [Iftikhar Ashraf Trumboo v.
