Three additional judges of Bombay High Court made permanent

The judges who have been made permanent are Justices Madhav Jayajirao Jamdar, Amit Bhalchandra Borkar and Shrikant Dattatray Kulkarni.

Three additional judges of the Bombay High Court, Justices Madhav Jayajirao Jamdar, Amit Bhalchandra Borkar and Shrikant Dattatray Kulkarni have been made permanent judges.

A notification to that effect published on the website of the Department of Law and Justice of the Union Law Ministry.

"In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri Justices (i) Madhav Jayajirao Jamdar, (ii) Amit Bhalchandra Borkar and (iii) Shrikant Dattatray Kulkarni, Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court, to be Judges of the Bombay High Court, in that order of seniority, with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices," the notification said.

Last year on December 14, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended that the three judges be made permanent.

The Central Government had appointed of Advocate Madhav Jamdar as an additional judge of the Bombay High Court for a two year term in January 2020.

On January 11, 2020, the Central Government had notified the appointment of Advocate Amit Bhalchandra Borkar and Judicial Officer Shrikant Dattatray Kulkarni as Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court for a two-year term.

The Central government on Monday also extended the tenure of Justice Abhay Ahuja as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court for a period of one year with effect from January 4, 2022.
