Do you seriously want to argue this? Justice Rohinton Nariman dismisses plea to send Indian Muslims to Pakistan

A petition praying that Indian Muslims be sent to Pakistan was dismissed by the Supreme Court today. The matter came up for hearing before a Bench of Justice Rohinton Nariman and Vineet Saran.

Visibly upset at the prayer, Justice Nariman asked the petitioner’s counsel to read the prayer out loud.

He then asked the petitioner’s counsel,

“Do you seriously want to argue this? We will hear you but we will pass strictures against you.”

The lawyer replied in the negative, whereupon the Court proceeded to dismiss the petition.
