Centre approves seven judicial officers for appointment as Allahabad High Court judges

Judicial officers Mohd Aslam, Anil Kumar Ojha, Sadhna Rani Thakur, Naveen Srivastava, Syed Aftab Husain Rizvi, Ajai Tyagi, and Ajai Kumar Srivastava - I have been appointed as additional judges of the High Court.

The Central government has signed off on the appointments of seven judicial officers as judges of the Allahabad High Court.

Judicial officers Mohd Aslam, Anil Kumar Ojha, Sadhna Rani Thakur, Naveen Srivastava, Syed Aftab Husain Rizvi, Ajai Tyagi, and Ajai Kumar Srivastava - I have been appointed as additional judges of the High Court.

Thakur, Rizvi and Srivastava - I will serve for a period of two year from their date of assuming office. The notification states that Aslam, Ojha, Srivastava and Tyagi will serve from the date they assume office till January 14, 2023; July 1, 2022; December 19, 2021; and December 31, 2022 respectively.

The Supreme Court Collegium had earlier recommended the elevation of the above mentioned judicial officers along with four others - Anil Kumar Gupta, Om Prakash Tripathi, Umesh Chandra Sharma and Syed Waiz Mian - whose elevations are yet to be confirmed.

The new appointments will take the working strength at the Allahabad High Court to 103, as against a sanctioned strength of 160 judges.
