NUALS conducts 3-day Sensitization workshop on Social Equity and Gender Justice

The workshop, which was conducted from September 8-10, aimed at inculcating social consciousness and awareness for law students to be able to have a healthy future for themselves and for the society.

The Centre for Human Rights, National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Cochin recently conducted a three-day Sensitization workshop on Social Equity and Gender Justice.

The workshop, which was conducted from September 8-10, aimed at inculcating social consciousness and awareness for law students to have a healthy future for themselves.

There were six sessions spread throughout the three days which deliberated on LGBTQIA+ rights and sensitization, gender justice, casteism, sexual harassment and body shaming, nuances of classism in educational institutions, and language/ culture-based harassment.

The workshop was inaugurated by KT Nisar Ahamed, District Judge, Member Secretary of Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KELSA).

The inaugural ceremony also witnessed the presence of Prof. (Dr.) K.C. Sunny, Vice Chancellor, NUALS, Advocate Mukund P Unny, Advocate, Supreme Court of India and Ms. Namitha KL, Associate Professor and Director (i/c), the Centre for Human Rights, NUALS.

The workshop also had a compelling line up of speakers including lawyers, scholars, academicians, psychologists and activists from in and outside the country including Advocate Chirayu Jain, Advocate Almas Shaikh, Roderick Wijunamai, Dr Chinchu C, Dr Latika Vashisht, Akkumma, Akash Mohan, Dinu Veyil, Arunesh Babu and Thangminlal Haokip.
