A bench led by Justice SS Shinde of Bombay High Court sat beyond court hours for the second consecutive day to hear cases.

The bench which also comprised Justice Milind Jadhav sat till 8.30 pm on Fridat to hear 215 cases out of the 265 cases which were listed on board for hearing.

The Bench, having criminal assignment, had listed 265 matters which included petitions filed by prisoners, applications for parole, habeas corpus, quashing of FIR by consent specifically in cases of cruelty under 498A of the Indian Penal Code and urgent petitions mentioned by lawyers for hearing.

The Bench specifically tried to finish hearings on all matters where parties were seeking quashing of FIRs after settlement with the complainant. This was to ensure that the complainant, who had been asked to remain present in Court, need not have to come to court again.

While the judges rose at 8.30 pm, the court staff including court sheristedars (associates of the court for the appellate side jurisdiction) Pranita Ambekar and Nitin Shinde and court clerk Jyotiram Tawse will continue to work to ensure that all orders passed in the day are uploaded and filed properly.

The same bench had heard over 190 cases on Thursday sitting till 8 pm.
