Supreme Court Collegium recommends appointment of four lawyers as judges of Madras High Court

The Madras High Court currently has 19 vacant posts, as against a sanctioned strength of 75 judges.

The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the proposal to elevate four advocates as judges of the Madras High Court.

A statement to this effect was released after the Collegium meeting held on September 1, 2021.

The following advocates have been recommended as judges of the Madras High Court:

1. Sundaram Srimathy

2. D Bharatha Chakravarthy

3. R Vijayakumar

4. Mohammed Shaffiq

The Madras High Court currently has 19 vacant posts, as against a sanctioned strength of 75 judges.
