Acting Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court, Justice Prashant Kumar passes away

Acting Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court, Justice Prashant Kumar passed away today morning.  He was 61 years old.

Justice Prashant Kumar enrolled at the Bar in 1980 and practiced at the Patna High Court.

He was appointed as Additional District Judge on May 6, 1991 and was promoted as District Judge on June, 2001.

Justice Kumar was elevated as Additional Judge of Jharkhand High Court, Ranchi  on January 21, 2009. He was transferred to Allahabad High Court on May 19, 2016.

He was then transferred back to the High Court of Jharkhand on May 10, 2019.

The appointment of Justice Kumar as Jharkhand High Court’s Acting Chief Justice was made in view of incumbent Chief Justice DN Patel’s recent transfer to the Delhi High Court.
