Kanga & Co assists in JSW Realty acquiring development rights of ‘Taj Villa’, Mumbai

Kanga & Co acted on JSW Realty's recent acquisition of development rights in respect of an iconic property at Carter Road, Bandra Mumbai, known as ‘Taj Villa’, admeasuring about half an Acre, from the Gore family.

Kanga & Co represented the owners, the Gore family, in this deal. 

The transaction team consisted of Ashir Amin (Senior Partner), Kunal Vaidya (Partner) and Gaurav Kotwani (Associate).

JSW Realty plan to restore and redevelop the iconic bungalow and construct a modern 14-storey residential tower on the property.

The Gore family have been holding this property since several years. As per the agreement entered into between the parties, the Gore family will be receiving some flats in the new building to be constructed on the property.

Taj Villa, a distinguished colonial-era bungalow from the 1930s, is situated on Carter Road in Bandra West, Mumbai.

Previously, in January 2022, reports indicated that businessman Tariq Gore, who primarily resides in Dubai and has siblings in Karachi, was involved in redevelopment discussions for Taj Villa. At that time, he was reportedly in talks with Nissar Kazi of Fortune Builders, with an agreement that included a payment to the Gore family and a share in the sale of apartments.
