ELP advises CANPAC on acquisition of packaging business from Saptagiri Packagings

With this acquisition, CANPAC will also introduce blister backer cards to their product lineup.

Economic Laws Practice (ELP) advised Canpac Trends Private Limited on its acquisition of the packaging business of Saptagiri Packagings Private Limited.

The firm provided end to end support in connection with the transaction. The definitive documents entailed detailed and nuanced negotiations in relation to the bespoke dynamics of the deal including various conditions and contingencies. The Firm supported their client by conducting the legal due diligence on the business undertaking and by drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing all definitive documents and other ancillary documents to ensure that the interests of all parties were adequately addressed in a balanced manner.

The transaction team consisted of Abhishek Sanyal (Partner), Jishnu Dhar (Principal Associate), Daryl Menezes (Senior Associate), Simran Yadav (Associate) and Kingshuk Saha (Associate).

Last year, ELP had advised CANPAC on a stake sale.

The acquisition, completed in January 2025, marks a strategic move by Canpac to strengthen its position in the packaging sector and diversify its product offerings. With this deal, Canpac has added blister backer cards—Saptagiri’s specialty—to its existing portfolio that includes folding cartons, paper bags, corrugated boxes, and flexible packaging. The acquisition also brings with it a manufacturing facility in Silvassa, taking Canpac’s total number of production units to seven, with other facilities located in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Tiruppur.

The company specializes in manufacturing a diverse range of packaging solutions, including folding cartons, corrugated boxes, flexible laminates, paper bags, and luxury boxes .
