A team from National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) reached the semi-finalis of the 45th Edition of the Jean Pictet Competition held at Antalya, Türkiye from February 8 -15.
The team comprised Vedant Jha, Sparsh Gautam and Sadhil Arora. Vedant Jha was also nominated for the Gilbert-Apollis prize, which is awarded to the top three oralists of the competition.
The competition is based on international humanitarian law, public international law and branches of international law applicable during armed conflict. Named after Swiss jurist Jean Pictet, the competition aims to 'take the law out of the books.' The competition's format involves simulations and tests such as moot pleading, negotiation, mediation, witness counselling, debate and MUN.
Teams are selected based on their application that comprises their CVs, Statement of Purpose and long-form research notes on legal questions.
