Bar & Bench

The National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi) has launched a flagship Post-Graduate Insolvency Program (PGIP)- LL M/ MA in Insolvency, which is set to commence from August 2025.

This future-ready program is designed for both legal and non-legal graduates, combining rigorous academic engagement with practical exposure to the field of insolvency, corporate rescue, restructuring, and liquidation.

With a batch size of 40, NLU Delhi seeks to nurture a new generation of insolvency professionals equipped with deep theoretical insight and real-world experience.

The PGIP is a 24-month, full-time postgraduate program comprising one year of academic instruction followed by a year of structured work experience through full-time internships facilitated by NLU Delhi.

Depending on prior qualifications, successful candidates will graduate with either an LL M (for those with an LL B) or an MA (for candidates from non-legal backgrounds).

A key highlight of the PGIP is its alignment with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI).

The PGIP certification from the IBBI involves clearing the Limited Insolvency (LI) exam and becoming an Insolvency Professional (IP) on graduation, which otherwise requires a 10-year work experience to become eligible to write the LI exam.

Candidates who have completed a basic professional course such as company secretary, chartered accountancy, cost accountancy, law or a bachelor's in technology or a bachelor's in engineering or a post-graduate with a major in Economics, Finance, Commerce, Management or Insolvency with an aggregate of 50% marks are eligible for the programme.

The maximum age limit to enrol is 28 years.

The degrees awarded under the PGIP are fully accredited and confer eligibility for the National Eligibility Test (NET) and further academic pathways, including PhD programmes.
