Call for Blogs: The Rotaract Club, JGU invites blog submissions on War, Peace and Justice

The Blog and Editorial Department of the Rotaract Club of OP Jindal Global University (JGU), Sonipat is hosting an Essay Competition as part of Project Hope 6.0.

Submission Categories

The Call for Blogs welcomes all kinds of submissions, including and not limited to, articles, research pieces, opinions, case comments, short notes, short stories, poems, ghazal, etc. This particular call for blogs invites analysis and opinions.

Themes for Submission

Participants are invited to write on one of the following themes:

  • Lawfare vs. Warfare: An evaluation of the role and limitations of international legal institutions like the ICJ, ICC, and UN mechanisms in conflict prevention.

  • Justice After War: A critical look at justice mechanisms aimed at rebuilding societies affected by war and large-scale violence.

  • Peace Begins at Home: Exploring how grassroots and community initiatives help restore and protect social harmony in post-conflict or polarized societies.

Assessment parameters

Understanding the Theme

Contextual Clarity: Demonstrate a strong understanding of the theme you choose, whether it’s international legal institutions, post-conflict justice, or grassroots peacebuilding.

Analysis and Insight

  • Evidence-Based Writing: Support your points with references to treaties, judgments, case studies, peace agreements, historical precedents, or verified reports.

  • Balanced Perspective: Acknowledge both possibilities and limitations, whether it’s of international courts, transnational justice mechanisms, or local efforts.

  • Audience Awareness: Keep your analysis accessible for a mixed audience: students, Rotaract members, and socially engaged readers.

Writing Style and Structure

  • Clarity and Flow: Write clearly and concisely, avoiding jargon.

  • Strong Structure: Begin with a clear introduction to the issue, present key arguments or reflections, and offer concluding thoughts or a call to action.

  • Engagement: Use real-life examples, quotes, or case studies to keep your writing engaging and relatable.

Originality: Present a unique perspective with an original analysis

Word Limit

  • Analysis: 2,000 words

  • Opinion: 2,500 words

Submission Guidelines

  • Authorship: Co-authorship (up to 2 authors) is permitted

  • Formatting: Times New Roman | Font Size 12 | Line Spacing 1.5 | Justified

  • Referencing: All references must be in the form of hyperlinks in the body of the submission. In case no hyperlink is available for any reference, the use of endnotes is recommended. The endnotes must conform with the 4th edition of the Oxford University Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA) style of citation.

  • Originality: Submissions must be original and unpublished

  • File Format: Submissions must be in a Word format (‘.doc’ or ‘.docx’).

  • Submission Link: Submissions can be made via this link.

  • Deadline: July 5, 2025, 11.59 PM

Review and Publication Process

All submissions will undergo a review process by the Editorial Board, and the Board’s decision on confirmation or rejection shall be communicated within a fortnight. Accepted submissions may be subject to editorial suggestions. Final publication is contingent upon incorporation of feedback to the satisfaction of the Board. The Board’s decision will be final.

The accepted blog submissions will be published in their newsletter and shared on their social media platforms including their LinkedIn page.

Copyright Policy

Upon selection, copyright will vest with the Blog. However, moral rights shall remain with the authors.
